Schermo dell'Arte - Archivio Film
Presented at Lo schermo dell'arte Film Festival 2013

Video fragments, gathered over ten years, illustrate the career of the Mexican artist, whose recent retrospectives at New York’s MoMA, the Centre Pompidou in Paris and at the Tate Modern in London have made him one of his generation’s most noted art-world figures. The film’s deliberately open structure, which follows the trajectory of Orozco’s work, going back and forth in time, underlines its eclectic and methodical character, intuitive and logical at the same time - shedding light on the passionate discipline with which the artist devotes himself to every aspect of his work. Ever phase of his process, from the start of his career to the present, has been noted daily in his many “notebooks”, which are full of information, pictures and sketches; this extraordinary “personal encyclopedia” , which Orozco uses continually, represents the source and at the same time a mirror-image of his entire artistic research. In 2002, the director dedicated his first film to the artist; it won numerous prizes, including Best Documentary at the Miami International Film Festival.
