In collabration with Careof and Sky Italia

Starting with the image of RAI’s venerable test pattern, ZimmerFrei builds nine short ‘intervals’, filmed at Sky television network’s headquarters, including backstage footage from famous sets, workers’ breaks, and the data-storage towers. These nine-minute breaks were broadcast as intervals between scheduled programs and the unexpected moments that mark a change of pace, a suspension in the flow of information. They are evocations and fantasies, brief escapes from the other side of the screen. Each episode is dedicated to a different space, and characterized by sound-compositions produced in situ from a mix of ambient recordings to create a postmodern symphony.
