Photographer, writer, Oscar-winner, fashion designer and painter Cecil Beaton witnessed and influenced his time through his extraordinary creative force. From his early photographic experiments, mostly self-portraits, to haute couture and the pages of Vogue, via Hollywood and WW2, he become the official photographer of Queen Elizabeth, and portraitist of film- and music stars. Beaton embodied, even in his tormented private dimension, the most significant cultural and political changes of the 20th century.
For this documentary, the director of
Peggy Guggenheim: Art Addict put together archive materials and photographs, as well as readings of passages from Beaton’s personal journals to paint a sincere portrait of a complex personality and a unique talent. Beaton’s intelligence, sensitivity and peculiar aesthetic sense have dictated a style that remains fresh and inspirational.
Rupert Everett is the narrator. The film won the
Audience  Awardfor  Best  Documentary at Hamptons  International  Film  Feature  2017.
