Florence is central to this video, which follows a work commissioned for Festival dei Diritti in 2018. Neapolitan street artist Jorit used a movable scaffold to paint Nelson Mandela’s face, with signature tribal red stripes, on the facade of an apartment building in Florence’s Piazza Leopoldo. The inhabitants’ enthusiastic reactions reflect the work’s social and cultural meaning , as well as the political and philosophical significance of the former South African president’s message to the world.
