The exhibition, hosted in the extraordinary spaces of Palazzo Grifoni Budini Gattai, former home of the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz Photo Archive, offers a compelling critical reading of Florence through contemporary photographs by artist and filmmaker Armin Linke alongside historical documentary images from the Fototeca. It explores the archives, museums, and collections of twenty institutions beyond the city’s usual tourist circuits.

Set on the banks of the Congo River, in a now-abandoned tropical agriculture research center, the debut feature film by artist Sammy Baloji explores the stigma of ecological destruction that began during Belgian colonization and whose impact is still felt today. Through personal testimonies and scientific analysis, the film highlights the human and environmental consequences of colonialism, inviting viewers to rethink our relationship with the planet and move beyond an anthropocentric approach to climate change.
