The video is the result of an audio edit from Alain Resnais’ film “Toute la Mémoire du Monde”, combined with clips of Google Data Centers taken from the official YouTube channel of the American company. Resnais’ film is a documentary about the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, highlighting the efforts and limitations of archiving human knowledge. The voiceover and soundtrack from the 1956 film overlay the Google footage, revealing the paradoxes of the revolution from printed books to digital data, from public archives to the private preservation of collective information.
