At the end of the 1920s, a traveler in Algeria recorded a filmed diary. His camera unhesitatingly captures intrusive images of an androgynous youth and unveiled women. Set to the hypnotic music of Keith Ullrich, these images take on the form of a nightmare.
Yervant Gianikian and Angela Ricci Lucchi. Both born in 1942, Yervant became an architect in Venice, Angela became a painter in Salzburg. They’ve won many awards and participated in major international film festivals, including Venice, Cannes, Locarno. They’ve been protagonists of major retrospectives in museums world-wide, including Mart Rovereto (2008), MoMA New York (2009), Hangar Bicocca Milano (2012), Centre Pompidou Paris (2015).
