Jerada is a mining town in Morocco, where coal extraction – officially halted in 2001 – has continued informally to this day. L’MINA reconstructs current activity in the pits through a set designed in collaboration with the local residents, who perform their own roles on screen.

Her work has been exhibited at institutions including: Le Nouveau Printemps/Toulouse (2025); L’Arc–Scène Nationale/Le Creusot (2025); MAC VAL/Vitry-sur-Seine (2024); Museum Hof van Busleyden/Mechelen (2024); Biennale de Lyon (2022); Museo de Reina Sofía, Madrid (2021); New Museum, New York (2020).
Her films have been presented at international festivals such as Cannes, FID Marseille, IFFR Rotterdam, IndieLisboa, Internationale Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen, and Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin.
Maroufi has been awarded the 2025–2026 fellowship in photography and cinema at the French Academy in Rome, Villa Medici.
